Hauptmann Gustav Hudemann - Army Paymaster

Gustav Hudemann was born on January 27th 1897. He joined the German Army in WW1 and was a Leutnant despatch rider. He was wounded twice in WW1. He was shot in the lung and also had shrapnel in his neck. He was decorated for bravery in WW1 with the Iron Cross 1st Class and Iron Cross 2nd Class.

He was called up in 1937 and became the Paymaster at Fort de Charaton. He was captured by the Americams at the end of WW2 and released after 6 weeks. He walked all the way home from Munich to Hamburg.

The British then recaptured him and kept him in captivity for 18 months. He was released in March 1947. Gustav unfortunatley passed away in 1949. He was 52 years old.
