For many collectors purchasing an original Third Reich helmet has now become cost prohibitive. Also, the recent proliferation of near perfect copies may make an astute collector suspicious of a helmet's true heritage.

The helmets shown here are all vintage museum copy reproductions all built to the exact same specifications as the original helmets, including steel shells, perfectly matched paint colors, weight and maker's marks. Helmet types and markings may vary slightly from shipment to shipment so here are a few things you ought to know:

Helmet types used are: M35, M38 and M40.
Usually they are size 60 but that may vary from time to time.
All chinstraps and liner hoops have the correct maker’s marks.
Liner split rivets have the correct maker’s marks.
Steel shells usually have maker marks such as ET68 but sometimes they may not as late war shells were not always stamped.
Some shells have the oval “approved” ink stamp inside.
The chicken wire used is typical of original wartime “five twist” small hex wire found on known original helmets.
Aging a helmet is an art and no two helmets are the same.
